Our Story

Hello! We are Andrea, Jamey, and Anderson Rabold, and we are grateful to be living our lives in deep connection with all Mother Nature has to offer, and to be sharing that abundance with you.

Before moving to Maine, Andrea was a nonprofit executive director and Jamey, a stay-at-home dad and photographer. One month prior to our son, Anderson, being born in 2017, we sold our 2000 sq ft house in suburban Denver, and moved to a tiny house on wheels in a more natural setting in the foothills of Northern Colorado where we were surrounded by trees, wild plants and animals, and a river. This wild shift in our journey facilitated our movement out of a more traditional modern American life filled with separation, disconnection, and distraction, into a life that could cultivate a deep relationship with the natural world and within that, interconnectivity to the whole. While as parents of a newborn we weren’t always sure whether we were coming or going, living so closely with nature and its cycles and rhythms had a profound effect on us - like a healing balm we hadn’t known we needed. Three years later in November 2020, our souls came calling with a new adventure and a grander vision, and we knew we needed land to do it. We began our search in January 2022, and by March, we were purchasing a 30 acre forest in Midcoast Maine. The train was on the track.

One of the most important parts of our vision was living in deeper community with others and sharing whatever we had with them, but we weren’t exactly sure what that could look like, so we spent the next year and half deciding what to build and how, and from there the seed of Nadair Maine was formed. By July 2023, we said goodbye to our lives in Colorado, moved our tiny house on wheels to our new home in Maine, and began a new relationship with our natural surroundings within the Maine forest ecosystem. For the next several months, we lived off-grid while developing the property. By March 2024, we opened our first short-term rental on Airbnb. That cabin is the Sunrise Cabin.

Today, we are deepening our commitment to our vision, and bringing the rest of Nadair Maine to life. Offering Elopements is something we feel deeply connected to. After 20 years of marriage, we know the portal you are about to walk through. What it takes to remain in deep commitment to each other as the honeymoon phase wears off and the real magic of the relationship begins - embracing the conflict born out of the friction of navigating life’s twists and turns together. Figuring out how to make mistakes, learn, grow, and laugh together even when life is hard. We have learned and are still learning what we truly meant when we said, “until death do we part” all those years ago.

Through our years in partnership and raising a son together, we have also witnessed how few of our modern spaces have the ability to hold space for deep and intentional life transitions. Examples of this can be found throughout our American culture but very specifically within our modern wedding ceremony practices where so many of us are spending $20,000+ trying to make our day “magazine worthy”, only to discover that those dollars didn’t make it meaningful. Our deepest desire is to support people looking for a different way - one using the power of intention and ritual to connect more soulfully with themselves and others.

Jamey Rabold

OFFICIANT & PHOTOGRAPHER

I remember clearly, while fighting the dandelions in suburban Colorado, the moment I realized the typical American lifestyle wasn’t for me. We were living the “dream.” A 2000 sqft house with two cars and two good jobs. Something we worked for years to achieve, but I couldn’t have been unhappier.

I tried everything I could think of to get rid of those little eyesores that attracted so many disapproving glances from our neighbors with their perfect, dandelion-less yards. I’d tried mowing them regularly, pulling them with special tools, even burning them. Then one day, I broke down and did something I hated. I sprayed them with a chemical. It worked. I’d “won.” But at what cost? As it turned out, not only had I sacrificed my integrity, but I’d only won that battle; the war raged on.

That day set me on a path to finding other ways of living more intentionally with fewer possessions and more experiences. To feed myself by learning to garden and forage. To house myself in smaller, less resource heavy spaces. And to interact with my community, and the world at large, with love and generosity. We started Nadair Maine with the intention of sharing what we have learned and what we are doing with others who are also interested in finding another way.

We now offer elopement services at Nadair because, much like the War of the Dandelions, I have seen the explosion of wedding culture and its related costs (financial, and otherwise) and realised there has to be another way. I’m an ordained minister who knows the importance of ritual when making big transitions in life. I'm a photographer who loves working with people. We have a beautiful place to stay. We have an enchanting forest venue. We have everything necessary to give people a meaningful elopement experience focused on stepping into deeper commitment with one another. I look forward to meeting you.

Andrea Rabold

ELOPEMENT COORDINATOR

Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, I spent 23 years in business and people leadership, and worked in multiple sectors including corporate, nonprofit, small business, government, education, and entertainment. In those spaces I served in a variety of roles including dance teacher, store manager, actor, operations coordinator, consultant/coach, executive director, and entrepreneur. Along the way I learned organizational development, people leadership, strategy and implementation, advocacy, fundraising, event planning, public speaking, and finance. I have also spent the last 15+ years practicing a wide range of healing art modalities including yoga, meditation, contemplation, shadow work, inner child healing, ritualized ceremony, and somatic body awareness.

What I have loved the most about all of my experiences has been working with people - seeing them, helping them realize their power and purpose and helping them bring their visions to life.

These days, I feel so full of radiance and joy as I spend time playing with my son and husband as we build forest trails, permaculture gardens, mentor others, and develop Nadair Maine. I can’t wait to work with you as you step through one of the most important transitions of your life.
