Frequently Asked Questions

  • How many guests can you accommodate?

Our venue can accommodate up to 15 people (13 guests + couple). Our Sunrise Cabin can be utilized by our couples to host an after wedding party (an additional $100 fee applies).

  • Where can guests park?

Depending on the number of guests and cars, we offer both driveway and street parking.

  • Are pets allowed?

No pets are allowed. Service animals, dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, are welcome.

  • What is your bad weather contingency plan?

Hopefully the weather will be to your liking on the day of your elopement. We can work outside with light rain, snow, or wind. If a downpour or blizzard is predicted, we may need to plan to have your ceremony/photos inside or if necessary/possible, reschedule.

  • What is your date change policy?

We understand that sometimes it is necessary to change the dates of a reservation. In the event one of our couples is forced to change the date of their event, every effort will be made by us to transfer reservations as long as the new date is within 90 days of the original date.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

In the event a couple needs to cancel their event, all payments made to date are non-refundable. In the event of cancellation of a wedding by Nadair Maine due to emergency conditions, or events beyond our control, all rental and deposit monies will be refunded.

  • What is your deposit and payment requirements?

An initial nonrefundable deposit of 50% of the total of all fees is payable at the time of contract signature. This payment serves to hold the venue for the specified date of the wedding. The remaining total will be due 30 days prior to the date of the event.

  • Are there any accessibility concerns for elderly or people with disabilities?

While our Sunrise Cabin is wheelchair accessible, our paths to ceremony sites in the forest are not. The paths are approximately 3’ feet wide but are not paved. There is also no seating for guests at forest ceremony sites; however, please let us know what your specific needs are and we will do what we can to try to accommodate them. We are also currently working on a small ceremony site near the Sunrise Cabin that will be able to accommodate accessibility needs. Please let us know if you are interested in learning more about this option.

  • How do you customize elopements to fit each couple?

We see ourselves as collaborators in helping your elopement vision come to life. We must play within the parameters of our setting, but we are so happy to hear what you are thinking and how we can support you. Most of the customization options happen within your ceremony and photography. We can help you incorporate personal touches or traditions into your ceremony, and are happy to also offer suggestions for couples who aren’t sure where to start.

  • What about privacy? Will our wedding be the only event at the venue that day?

Your wedding will be the only wedding occurring at Nadair on your day; however, we also live and work on the property. Our tiny house is located 60 feet from Sunrise Cabin and is visible from the cabin windows. We made sure, however, to position both buildings so none of the windows face each other to ensure as much privacy as possible.

We also rent out both the Sunrise Cabin and Cocoon Cottage when they are not being utilized by our wedding couples. You are more than welcome to book either separately for any guests who might also be interested in staying on property.

  • Is it hard to get married in Maine?

No, but there are specific requirements.

The couple must visit a town office in person to apply for the marriage license. If both of you are residents of the state of Maine, you should both apply at the town office where at least one of you is a resident. If you are residents of different Maine towns, you both may apply in one town or the other - you do not need to apply separately in each town. If one of you is from out of state, then both of you should apply in the town where one holds Maine residency. If neither of you is a resident of Maine, then you may apply in any Maine town office. If you are getting married at Nadair, we recommend either the Brooks or Jackson town office (both located within 5 min of property).

Your marriage license is valid for 90 days and can only be used within the State of Maine. The person performing the ceremony must be authorized to perform marriages in Maine, and is responsible for filing the marriage certificate with the town office that issued the marriage license.

  • Is there anything else I should know about hosting a wedding at Nadair?

Yes! Nadair Maine is a 30 acre forest that we like to think of as a sanctuary from the trappings of modern life. While we have carved out trails and a few spaces for cabins, it is mostly wild. While you’re with us we hope that you enjoy all the beauty that nature has to offer. The calming effect of a walk through the forest. The sounds of song birds a beautiful spring morning as you sip a warm beverage on the back porch. The joy of watching the fireflies perform their ritual mating dance on a summer night. The crisp autumn air while enjoying s'mores over a campfire. The breathtaking view of the stars on a clear winter evening.

That said, we are in the middle of a forest in Maine. From mid-spring to mid-Autumn, there will be bugs. While the flavor of bug(s) you will encounter will be determined by the month of your visit, we have a few tricks to help minimize their impact at our accommodations and during our ceremonies. If you want no bugs, a wintertime wedding might be the perfect date for you.
